Community at the heart
The Sawyers Close community is made up of four residential buildings – Broadleys, Grasmere, Winwood and Hale – in the Dedworth area of Windsor. Sawyers Close and its facilities are managed by Abri, a leading housing provider working across the south of England.
The redevelopment of Sawyers Close in Windsor, will see the existing buildings demolished and 413 high-quality affordable homes built, both on the existing site and on open space adjacent, transferred to Abri by RBWM.
All of the new homes will be affordable housing (either through reprovision of existing social rented homes, affordable rent or shared ownership) in a mix of apartments, maisonettes and houses. Every Abri household at Sawyers Close is guaranteed one of the new properties and, by building an additional 221 homes, Abri can also help many more people in housing need in RBWM.
A community is about more than just bricks and mortar. We want to help Sawyers Close to become a thriving, inclusive, sustainable place for people to live. Our plans for a new community centre and play space are designed to bring the wider community together to enjoy everything that Sawyers Close will have to offer.
On 7 December 2023, The Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead (RBWM) agreed to grant planning permission for the redevelopment of Sawyers Close. This is an exciting milestone for us all, and there’s still a lot to do, but we’re committed to keeping you updated as we head into the next phase of the project.

Who are Abri?
Abri is a housing association based in the south of England. We’re one of the largest in the area, manage 50,000 homes and community assets and work on behalf of 114,000 customers.
Our work is not only about providing homes, we believe that a home is more than a place, it is a feeling. It’s about feeling safe, secure and happy.Everyone has a right to a safe, warm and sustainable home, and to feel part of a community where they have the opportunity to belong, grow, and thrive. Not everyone is fortunate enough to have access to these things. We believe that we can fix this, or at least make a dent in it. It’s what gets us up everyday.
